Recently I picked up "The Eyre Affair" by Jasper Fforde ... absolutely hilarious! Has anyone else read it? For those who don't know, it's set in a fictional parallel universe, some parts of which are very familiar and others that are very strange - like pet dodos made from home cloning kits, for instance. It's a world that adores literature and there are even Literary Detectives in the police, great stuff. Anyway there's a big kerfuffle involving literary characters getting stolen from their books, etc. There are four or five books in this series, all very good.
I'm just now reading "The Big Over Easy" by the same author, vaguely set in a similar world, and it's basically a nursery rhymes whodunnit. Never going to think of Humpty Dumpty the same way again, I can tell you
